One year ago this month, we opened the doors to a completely reimagined Ruth S. Harley University Center that fits the needs of the evolving college campus. Our new UC is expansive, beautiful and sustainable—modernized for today’s student, scholar and visitor. It is accessible and welcoming to all and already making a huge impact on us.

We are breaking down the traditional one-class, one-professor model in courses like Race 360 and Water 360. Adelphi’s interpretation of this innovative trend gives students a chance to see a single subject from varying fascinating perspectives. This fall, we are joined by 22 new faculty members spanning all our schools and colleges and our University Libraries. Our mission to transform lives is enriched by their unique expertise and contributions.

This fall, Adelphi welcomes a landmark first-year class. A record 1,330 new students joined our Panther family, from 34 states and 23 countries. More than 300 transfers and 820 graduate students are continuing their academic journey with us this fall in our eight world-class colleges and schools. And we are joined on campus this year by 30 of our first community college students through our innovative Nassau-Adelphi Gateway program.

Adelphi has launched a smarter, more engaging and inclusive way to share the Adelphi story with students and families. Our first digital viewbook is far from a simple slideshow—our readers are one click away from a video, a program or a virtual tour of Adelphi.

We continue to lead in the performing arts community. Adelphi alumni are contributing to the Broadway show Pass Over by Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu and Disney’s Winnie the Pooh off-Broadway. And an early work of Jonathan Larson ’82, creator of the musical RENT, is heading to Netflix.

Now in its third year, our Hispanic Community Partnership Program has more than tripled in attendance and is drawing interest from Hispanic teens as far away as California. The program is just one part of our commitment to student success and access to education, and a significant stepping-stone toward our goal to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

Despite grueling schedules, our scholar-athletes continue to lead academically among all Northeast-10 institutions. Finishing first in Fall 2020, they've taken the top spot in eight of the past 11 semesters—winning in their sports and their studies.

Our commitment to equity and academic opportunities for all students shines through Adelphi’s Learning Resource Program—the first of its kind on a college campus—and our Bridges to Adelphi Program, for students on the spectrum.

Adelphi was the first university on Long Island to offer a PhD in Nursing. Today, our nurse PhD candidates are involved in the highest levels of leadership, research and educating the nurses of tomorrow.

Here in New York, too few science students were trained to write the custom code required for high-level research. Adelphi answered the need by creating the first minor in scientific computing in New York state, in partnership with Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Internationally renowned dancer Ruth St. Denis founded the Department of Dance at Adelphi in 1938, one of the first dance departments at an American university. Now a cornerstone of our performing arts, it has close ties with the Paul Taylor and Martha Graham Dance Companies.

The first of its kind when it was founded almost 50 years ago, the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology is nationally known for reimagining clinical psychology and for its contributions to research.

Opening the doors of college education to nontraditional students is an important initiative at Adelphi. More than 60 continuing education workshops will help them advance their professional skills, and we offer them affordability and easy online access.
