Adelphi Gives Back Month is an Adelphi University tradition. Spearheaded by the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), it offers students multiple ways to make an impact on our community throughout the month of March.

Adelphi is a safe, welcoming and inclusive home for all, and the Campus Pride Index recognizes our unwavering commitment to our LGBTQ+ community. Our stars continue to climb ever closer to 100 percent. We are very proud.

For the fourth consecutive year, an Adelphi University student has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Miguel Velasquez, a sophomore in Adelphi’s prestigious Levermore Global Scholars program who is majoring in history in the accelerated 4+1 Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP), has been selected as a 2021–2022 Newman Civic Fellow.

Adelphi University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa's 2021 Transfer Honor Roll, solidifying our stance as one of the most transfer-friendly schools in the nation.

Throughout the month of March, the Adelphi community will come together to pay it forward from wherever they may be. Participating in community service initiatives can be an extremely rewarding experience.

Food insecurity is defined as “limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods, including involuntarily cutting back on meals and food portions or not knowing the source of the next meal." It’s one of the most pressing issues of our times. Anyone can experience food insecurity, including college students, faculty and staff.

In polls conducted by Campus Recreation this past summer and fall, students voiced their preference for in-person fitness classes and more access to the fitness center, said Linda Gundrum, MS '86, director. In response, Campus Rec is responding to these requests with more in-person classes, new pop-up intramural activities and expanded hours for the fitness center for Spring 2021.

During February and into March, Adelphi acknowledges the achievements, sacrifices and accomplishments of Black people in our own community and around the world.

This fall, Adelphi met an enviable goal that many colleges and universities failed to accomplish: keeping campus—including the residence halls—open up to the Thanksgiving holiday. Not only did residence halls stay open, students made the most of the semester, enjoying days, evenings and weekends on our beautiful grounds and socializing while remaining socially distant.

Panther pride went virtual this year for Adelphi Spirit Weekend. The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) and the Office of Alumni Relations spearheaded this tradition for the fourth year. In 2017, the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and the Center for First-Generation Student Success launched the First-Generation College Celebration, a day for institutions to celebrate students, faculty and staff who are the first members of their family to attend college.
