On January 18, 2021, the completely renovated and expanded Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC) reopened to the Adelphi community.

Fifty years ago, as protests by Black students across the United States gained prominence, Black and Puerto Rican students at Adelphi University seized the moment to push for the creation of a program of study about their own histories in America.

In 2007, Adelphi University launched Bridges to Adelphi, an award-winning program that helps students on the autism spectrum or who have nonverbal learning disabilities transition to college life and succeed academically and socially.

Admission to Adelphi University will continue to be standardized test optional for current high school juniors applying for admission this coming year, recognizing the difficulty of taking SATs or ACTs during the pandemic.

Many people today might not know of The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island, and in 2021 not many more remember the glam metal band Great White. But the two are forever and inextricably linked by a fatal fire that happened nearly 20 years ago.

When the United Nations wanted to host a concert celebrating its 75th year and the 10th anniversary of its Academic Impact program, it chose the Adelphi Symphony Orchestra. Our students and alumni had the outstanding experience of playing before a global Zoom audience.

While the pandemic has temporarily put an end to most on-site internships, Adelphi’s Innovation Center is helping both enrolled students and those taking a gap year to get hands-on, résumé-ready career experience remotely.

With our James Riley, Jr. Trading Room closed since last March, the finance course that allows business students to invest a portion of the University's endowment has gone virtual. Our students continued learning how to turn a profit during a volatile period.

Senior nursing major Kassie Vetrano volunteered at a hospital at the start of the pandemic to work with COVID-19-positive patients. After contracting the virus herself, she returned to her job once she recovered, determined to inspire patients as they battled the disease.
