Join us as we take on the New York City contemporary gallery scene. We’ll visit the latest art exhibitions, viewing the works of some of today’s most influential and talked-about artists.
You’ll learn to view art with a critical eye as we read reviews, discuss the works, and meet art professionals and your fellow art connoisseurs. Everyone enrolled will receive a tailored guide to current trends in Manhattan galleries and Brooklyn artist-run spaces.
Since New York City offers a countless array of venues hosting exhibitions that stay for a limited time, we’re offering two separate workshops this fall. Consider signing up for both of them so you won’t miss out.
Each workshop will include four hours of gallery visits, with a two-hour Zoom discussion two days later, totaling six hours. After completion of each workshop, you’ll receive a digital badge credential to share.
Please make your own arrangements for traveling to and from each gallery.
NOTE: Scheduling, gallery access and availability, and enrollment size is subject to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Workshop A: Wednesday, November 10, 2021, and Friday, November 12, 2021
Workshop B: Wednesday, December 8, 2021, and Friday, December 10, 2021
Wednesday: 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday: 3:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
NOTE: Depending on gallery safety protocols, participants may meet collectively in galleries or individually with discussions following.
Who can benefit:
- Those wanting to connect with New York City as a global destination for artists and art, and who may not know where to begin with the infinite directories of artist names and galleries, or who may simply feel intimidated or daunted by the unknown. In this workshop, we welcome the unknown!
- Recent graduates and/or professional artists who want to familiarize themselves with exhibition contexts and systems as they seek opportunities to showcase their work
- Individuals seeking exposure to various professional fields in the arts, including fabrication, installation, registration, administration, curation and sales
- Anyone looking to network with other like-minded art enthusiasts and professionals, and to engage in rigorous—but fun!—dialogue around the art of our time
