Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) affect one in five birthing individuals during pregnancy, and when left untreated, negatively impact their emotional and physical health as well as that of their loved ones and future children. This training covers a wide range of topics, from risk factors, diagnostic tools, treatment planning, psychotherapeutic approaches and the implications of unmanaged maternal mental and paternal mental illness. We also examine grief in young parents, non-traditional families using the lens of acculturation, as well as clinician burnout. Black Perinatal Mental Health
