Acquire the design skills you need to succeed in agencies, design studios or in-house creative departments, no matter your level of experience.

Gain insight into the current world of graphic design and learn to navigate complex design problem-solving situations for both print and digital projects. Learn how to start a project efficiently and deliver solutions in a creative and timely manner—allowing you to succeed in the design workplace.

Complete five required workshops in order to earn a certificate. The final workshop is free. Workshops can be taken in any order and digital badges will be awarded for each and a digital certificate will be awarded after completion of fifth workshop.

The Holistic Approach to InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop

Learn how the three main Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) work best when working together. You will learn the basics of each of the applications and then create a project that integrates all three, utilizing “real-world” efficient and creative skills. The result? A professional portfolio piece you can use for interviews or career advancement.

Graphic Design for Children’s and Young Adult Publishing

Designing for children’s and young adult’s publishing is an exciting, growing and uniquely creative field. Learn how to succeed in this specialized field of design with a special focus on books, magazines and digital publishing. Through an exploration of crisp, bright, bold graphics and typography, students will develop the skills necessary to create content that is attractive to a younger audience—and their parents.

Graphic Design for the Digital World

To succeed in today’s design world, you must have digital skills. In this workshop, you’ll learn layout, use of imagery, typography and color for projects like email blasts, digital banner ads, simple animated gifs and social media posts. Students will learn how to create engaging graphics using the principles of web-based graphic design, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. (Please note: this is not a coding class.)

Photoshop for Photo-Illustration

Expand your Photoshop skills with a special focus on using the application as a creative tool for photograph-based illustration. You will acquire technical knowledge and best practices for creating both realistic and illustrative imagery that stands out in a global culture—where social media and digital content reign supreme.

The Art of Art Direction: How to Design in Collaboration With Illustrators and Photographers

Learn how to grow from designer to art director. Students will develop the real-world skills necessary to take their creative abilities to the next level—as the leader of a team. Skills include: designing with a focus on collaboration; conveying a creative vision; guiding the artistic output of professional freelancers; and synthesizing various visual media into a stunning finished product.
