A Direct Path to Your Master’s Degree

Earn your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years—and save a year of tuition—in an accelerated 4+1 psychology program that includes optional concentrations in human resource management or substance abuse counseling.

General Psychology 4+1

Major in a psychology field that satisfies your fascination with what makes people tick.

You’ll study in small classes taught by faculty at the top of their field. You’ll gain valuable career-building experience in internships at leading organizations. You’ll do original research and, if that’s really your passion, have the opportunity to take part in our Emerging Scholars Program. You can even design your own independent study. And if you choose, you can stay on to earn your master’s or doctoral degree—right here at the Derner School of Psychology.

But what kind of career can you have with an undergraduate degree in psychology? Just about any you choose. The insights into the mind and behavior you’ll gain, as well the analytical skills you’ll develop, are abilities valued in every field. Graduates of our undergraduate program have gone into banking, business, law, medicine, research, teaching, marketing, human resources, counseling and many other rewarding careers.

Psychology Career and Research Opportunities

Internships

Put your classroom learning to work—and further your knowledge—in internships at local healthcare organizations, schools, and social service providers. It’s a great way to gain experience or prepare for graduate study.

Independent Study

If you develop an interest in a subject that isn’t available in regular course offerings, or if you want to delve even deeper into a topic you’ve learned about, you can create your own independent study project as a junior or senior.

Emerging Scholars Program

The Emerging Scholars Program is a selective, year long program for junior and senior psychology majors interested in conducting original research and pursuing an advanced degree. Students in the program also attend a monthly seminar with others in the program to discuss important topics like ethics, data analysis and graduate school admissions.

Mentoring Future Psychologists

The Mentoring Future Psychologists (MFP) Program provides culturally responsive mentoring for students who identify as part of historically underrepresented groups.
