Required Materials for Applicants

  1. Completed application for admission: We’ll accept either the Adelphi Application or the Common Application – whichever is easier for you!  There is no application fee.
  2. Personal statement (only required for select programs): You must submit a short personal statement if you are applying to either the College of Professional and Continuing Studies or to the Accelerated Nursing program detailing your interest in your respective program.
  3. Official or unofficial college transcript(s): If you choose to enroll, we’ll eventually need your official transcripts – but for now, feel free to send along your unofficial copies for an expedited admissions decision. Include transcripts from any domestic and/or international colleges you’ve attended; past and present.
  4. Official high school transcript:  This is only required for review for applicants with less than 30 college credits. Whether an unofficial or official copy, your high school transcript must indicate the date of your graduation.

Supplemental Application Materials

If you are applying to Adelphi as a social work major, and are interested in strengthening your application, you have the option to submit one (or more) of the below materials for consideration during your application review process.

  • Résumé
  • Essay (500 words or less)
    • Share your interest in the social work profession and give examples.
  • Recommendation Letter

Applicants to the BS in Nursing must meet the following requirements for consideration during your application review process:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 from all undergraduate college work completed after high school
  • Passing scores from the ATI TEAS (Assessment Technologies Institute’s Test of Essential Academic Skills)
    • We require a minimum adjusted total score of 58.7 percent.
    • Students are allowed a maximum of three attempts in total for the ATI TEAS exam, with two attempts per admission cycle. There must be at least 45 days between the first and second attempts. If the second attempt is taken before the 45-day gap, it will still count as an attempt but will not be considered. A third attempt within the same admission cycle will also be disregarded.
    • If you have already taken the ATI TEAS exam twice, please contact the Office of University Admissions for advisement on when you should schedule your third and final attempt.
  • If you have taken science prerequisite courses, a passing grade of C+ and above is required.
    • To be eligible for admission consideration, students are required to have achieved a minimum grade of C+ in all science prerequisite courses, with the exception of one (including repeats) in the past eight years.
    • All science prerequisite courses must have been taken within the past 10 years.

Students who meet the requirements listed above but have a cumulative GPA below 3.5 may be considered for the waitlist. Any prior grades in nursing courses will be taken into consideration. Students who have previously been dismissed from another nursing program will not be eligible.

Applicants to the Accelerated BS in Nursing must provide:

  • Evidence of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university (awarded prior to the start of the program)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 from all undergraduate college work completed after high school
  • Two professional reference letters
  • A professional statement
  • A passing grade of C+ and above in all required prerequisites prior to the start of the program
    • Students who receive below a C+ in one required prerequisite course within the past eight years may repeat that course one time. Any student who receives below a C+ in more than one science prerequisite course would not be eligible for the accelerated nursing program.
    • All science prerequisite courses must have been taken within the past 10 years.
  • An applicant’s academic history will be carefully reviewed and candidates may be requested to complete an interview with the ABSN admissions committee.

The ATI TEAS is not required for ABSN applicants. Any prior grades in nursing courses will be taken into consideration. Students who have previously been dismissed from another nursing program will not be eligible. This is a highly competitive program; eligibility does not guarantee acceptance.

If you are applying to Adelphi as a performing or visual arts major, you must complete a portfolio review or audition, specific to your academic major of choice (in addition to the previously described application requirements).

Your application can not be reviewed for an admissions decision by the Office of University Admissions until a portfolio review or an audition has been completed with the proper department.

Please select your area of interest to learn more about the required portfolio review or audition:
