Adelphi University celebrated a momentous achievement during its seventh annual Giving Day on April 17 and 18, 2024, as the community rallied together to raise $684,564 from 2,011 donors—both are Giving Day records.

Reaching alumni around the nation, the Momentum 2 Presidential Reception Tour is an opportunity to share our news with friends and supporters as we prepare to launch our fundraising campaign, the Momentum Campaign: Extraordinary Impact. At each stop across the country, our alumni will be sharing stories of the extraordinary impact of their Adelphi education.

In 2023, Adelphi University’s Women’s Giving Circle celebrated its 12th year by awarding $29,660 to 12 innovative projects, programs and research that will benefit the Adelphi community.

Each year, Adelphi participates in the global generosity movement, GivingTuesday, to support our University community members.

Thanks to a major gift from Bharat Bhisé, MBA '78, students and faculty will examine history, relations and economics to address global issues and increase understanding.

Programming includes a robust calendar of workshops, programs and activities for Adelphi undergraduate and graduate students, and local high school students.

Adelphi University's sixth annual Giving Day on April 19 and 20, 2023, raised $481,430 from a record-breaking 1,902 donors, an increase of 9 percent in the number of donors over last year.

On February 8, the Adelphi University Office of University Advancement and External Relations (ADVEX) opened the Student Philanthropy Center (SPC), a new space that provides student workers with the opportunity to connect with donors and alumni while fundraising for the University.

More than $100,000 was raised in support of women’s leadership programs.

When Bharat Bhisé, MBA ’78, CEO and founder of Bravia Capital, established a distinctive new program for the Levermore Global Scholars program at Adelphi University, he said one of his objectives was to help students learn to be critical thinkers.

“No matter how much information there is in Google, one needs the ability to ask questions, because education is an interactive experience. I believe in hands-on learning and mentorship programs.”

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Each year Adelphi participates to support current Panthers.

Samuel Fremd ’69, born in a displaced persons camp in Germany at the end of World War II, left a monumental gift to our College of Nursing and Public Health. Made in honor of his mother and the nursing care she received, the gift has helped make 2022 a record-breaking fundraising year for Adelphi.

Adelphi University's 22nd annual President's Gala on Saturday, June 11, raised more than $345,000 for the President's Student Success Scholarship, an endowment that has now surpassed $1 million. This year's event at The Garden City Hotel concluded Adelphi's 125th-anniversary celebrations, honoring the University's legacy and those who support its longevity and mission.

Paula Malone was looking for a child development center for her grandchildren when she discovered Adelphi University’s Alice Brown Early Learning Center (ELC). Not only was the facility close to her daughter's home, but the program also offered a modern and thoughtful philosophy of childhood education. Thus, Paula’s story with Adelphi began.

Record-breaking day generates support for scholarships, athletics and student-centered programs.

Adelphi recently received a $1 million gift from our trailblazing nurse alumna, the late Mildred “Millie” Loughlin Kahane ’49. She was a first-generation scholarship recipient who became a leader—one inspired to “pay it forward.” The next generation of Adelphi nurses and our University are grateful for her generosity.

Ern Knox ‘75 came to Adelphi first as a commuter student from Roosevelt, and later as a resident student, to study psychology. He found a strong community in the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the first Black fraternity on Long Island, as a member of its second pledge class. SharRon McCoy-Knox, an aspiring nurse, commuted from Freeport. SharRon was actively involved in student life and had a role in establishing the first Black sorority at Adelphi, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
