Adelphi-Supported Awards

Be sure to refer to the specific terms and conditions for each award.

Eligible students are automatically considered for most Adelphi scholarships upon acceptance.

Our grants are awarded to students on the basis of financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA® and other defined criteria. Except where noted, no additional application is required.

There are numerous federal and state grants available to students. To be considered for them, you must first complete the FAFSA®. New York State scholarships and grants are open to residents, who must take additional steps to apply.

Adelphi offers a range of merit scholarships for incoming first-year students who made outstanding academic achievements in high school. These include the Levermore Global Scholars Award for students accepted into the Levermore Global Scholars Program.

Honors College Awards

The Honors College offers several scholarships and prizes for undergraduate and graduate students in the school’s programs.

Every student who enters the Honors College as a full-time, first-year student or full-time transfer student receives a $3,000/year scholarship in recognition of their outstanding achievements. This scholarship is available to undergraduates for up to four years and may be combined with other scholarships and/or grant awards. Students must remain enrolled in the Honors College to keep this award.

Each year, the Honors College also presents $5,000/year scholarships to three outstanding members of the incoming first-year class based upon their potential to contribute to the intellectual life and community of the Honors College.  These undergraduate scholarships are in addition to the Honors College Scholarship given to all students in the program.

Each year, the Honors College awards $2,500/year undergraduate scholarships to four outstanding students.  Honors College faculty nominate students to compete for this award based upon their classroom and Honors community engagement. Nominated students submit an essay based upon an assigned prompt. Grant recipients are selected by the Honors College deans, in consultation with the Honors faculty. These undergraduate scholarships are in addition to the Honors College Scholarship given to all students in the program.

Every year, the Honors College supports 10 to 14 students research projects with grants of $2,000 or $4,000, determined by the time invested in the research. Students apply for funding in the spring. Those receiving the grants are mentored by faculty advisors.

The Honors College recognizes excellent work by its students with annual awards. One first-year student each year receives an award of $100 for writing the best paper in a first-year Honors course, as determined by the Honors faculty and deans.

In addition, five Honors students are recognized each spring with awards of $1,000 for producing the best thesis in their area of study. These awards are:

  • The Charles H. Levermore Prize for the Best Senior Thesis
  • The Ruth St. Denis Prize for the Best Work in the Arts and Humanities
  • The Frank Dickinson Blodgett Prize for the Best Work in the Health Sciences
  • The James H. Post Prize for the Best Work in the Social Sciences
  • The Warren Eickelberg Prize for the Best Work in the Natural and Formal Sciences

Scholarship Opportunities Beyond Adelphi

In addition to scholarships and grants offered by Adelphi, New York State, and the federal government, you may be eligible for funding from private organizations, employers, unions, and community groups. These external scholarships can provide valuable financial support, but finding them requires research and persistence.

Adelphi’s Office of Prestigious Awards and Fellowships also offers expert guidance on identifying opportunities and preparing competitive applications. Advisors can provide you with feedback on statements, applications, and recommendation requests to help maximize your chances of success. Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment for personalized support.
