Professional Vulnerability: Dread, Hope and Resilience
This series of workshops explores the complex effects of working with the suffering of others on the therapist.
It attempts to widen the scope of investigation beyond counter transference and projective identification or the negative cost of caring, exploring more nuanced effects of the therapeutic work on the therapist.
We will examine this important topic through four types of therapeutic circumstances that most therapists find challenging:
- Working under the impact of therapist’s own trauma
- Coping in the aftermath of a patient’s suicide
- Working with patients who are struggling with eating disorders
- Working with patients who present with dissociative coping style.
Each of our invited speakers is an expert in the field. Clinical cases will be discussed.
