The Autistic Spectrum Disorders represent significant neurologically based impairments in mentalization that disrupt the normal course of development.
Over the years psychodynamic treatment of this population has been dismissed, however, recent clinical research has provided conceptual models for clinical work with this population and their parents.

Serena Wieder, PhD, is a clinical psychologist who has pioneered important approaches to diagnosing and treating infants and toddlers with infant mental health and developmental disorders. She is Clinical Director of the Profectum Foundation. Serena also runs her own private practice where she diagnoses, treats, and provides consultation on complex developmental and mental health challenges. Dr. Wieder is a Board Member of ZERO TO THREE.
