From applying for financial aid to registering for classes, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know before the semester begins.

Our One-Stop Student Services Center is here to help you and your family navigate the essential steps to ensure a smooth transition into college life. If you come across any unfamiliar terms, refer to our glossary or review our additional resources.

Step 1: Start Your Aid Process

Even if you think you may not be eligible, it’s still worth applying for financial aid—you might be surprised. It’s not too late to be considered for federal and state assistance.

If you’re transferring to Adelphi between the Fall and Spring semesters and have already submitted your FAFSA®, please be sure to update your application to include Adelphi’s school code (002666) and list Adelphi University as your institution. This ensures we can properly review and evaluate your financial aid eligibility.

Keep in mind that you must reapply for financial aid every year.

In order to receive a College Financing Plan, you must submit all missing financial aid requirements. New items may be requested before school starts, so check your application portal regularly. Any missing items will be clearly listed in your portal.

If your FAFSA® is selected for verification, Adelphi will request additional documentation to confirm the information you provided.

Carefully read the terms and conditions that came with your scholarship letter. You want to be sure to keep your scholarship for all four years.

If you are accepting Federal Direct Student Loans, you need to complete the following as soon as possible to be sure these funds are available when it is time to pay your bill:

  1. Entrance Counseling
  2. Master Promissory Note (you only need to do this once for your undergraduate college years)

If you received a College Financing Plan based on living at home, but now you want to live on campus (or vice versa), contact the One-Stop Student Services Center at onestop@adelphi.edu as your financial assistance may increase.

The Federal Work-Study provides jobs for qualifying students who demonstrate financial need.

Working on campus is a great way to meet new friends and mentors while learning new skills. Reach out to our Center for Career and Professional Development for guidance.

Step 2: Exploring Payment Options

Always review your tuition bill to ensure your enrollment, meal plan, and housing selections are accurate. Some programs designed to enhance your college experience are automatically included in your bill. If any aren’t a good fit, you may choose to opt out.

Using your College Financing Plan, you can estimate your payment due to Adelphi University. If you need assistance completing this form, contact an advisor at our One-Stop Student Services Center.

Review available payment plans to help manage any remaining balance owed to the University.

Do you know someone who would like to help you pay your bill? Students can send a payer invitation to give access to the account and make a payment on your behalf. This can be done when making a payment on CLASS via eCampus.

PLUS Loan for Parents can assist your family with educational expenses. It is typically disbursed twice—in the fall and again in the spring. There are many payment options, including deferring payment until after you graduate.

Step 3: Registering for Classes

Most financial aid requires full-time enrollment of at least 12 credits per semester. Be sure to review our Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines to stay on track.

After academic advisement, log in to CLASS via eCampus to register for your courses each semester. Contact Academic Services and Retention at oasr@adelphi.edu if you have any questions.
