Adelphi annually honores students, student organizations and faculty members who have made a commitment to pursue excellence in their various endeavors.

Each year, the Student Government Association and Center for Student and Community Engagement recognize faculty, staff and undergraduate students for their dedication and accomplishments throughout the year at the Brown and Gold Awards Ceremony. This year, the Student Government Association is accepting nominations for individual awards and highlights.

Nominations are now open until April 19, 2024.

The nominations will be reviewed by the Brown and Gold Review Committee, including members of the Student Government Association, faculty and staff. Only current undergraduate students are eligible for the awards below (with the exception of Professor of the Year). Please note the requirements for each award listed in its description. You may submit multiple award nominations.

Awards will be given out at the Brown and Gold Awards Ceremony on May 6, 2024. 

Brown and Gold Awards

This award seeks to recognize a faculty member who excels in the classroom, inspires and motivates their students, and demonstrates an exemplary commitment to their field.

Behind every successful student organization is an involved advisor. This award recognizes a faculty or staff member who devotes countless hours of support and guidance to their student organization.

The Excellence in Service Award is presented to an individual who has made an impact on the University and local community through their participation in community service and volunteerism.  This individual has displayed a passion for service and through their actions has made lasting impressions on the lives of many other and Adelphi University.

The Excellence in Social Justice award recognizes a student that has fought and advocated for an equitable and just environment for everyone that enters Adelphi University’s campus.

This award honors the Club Officer who serves as the backbone of their student organization. They are the Vice Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers and other key positions that help promote the mission and goals of the organization. Their work is not always seen, but the success of their organizations is a testament to their drive, and dedication.

This award recognizes a student who has gone above and beyond as Club President. They are the leader of their organization and spearhead achieving success for their club as one of their main responsibilities. They lead their executive board, general membership, and they also determine the direction of their organization.

The Outstanding Commuter Award recognizes a junior or senior commuting student leader.  Award recipients demonstrate mastery in multitasking in a variety of activities, both inside and outside the Adelphi community.

The Outstanding Transfer Award recognizes a transfer student who has demonstrated mastery in multitasking in a variety of activities, both inside and outside the Adelphi community.

The Panther Pride award recognizes a student who has shown significant school spirit and pride for Adelphi. This student has made an impact on the student experience, their peers and the campus community as a whole.

This award honors a student in their first or second year at Adelphi who shows leadership promise through their contributions to student life and community building. Their commitment can be seen in their involvement in student organizations, student government, residential life or community service.

This award honors a junior or senior student who has made a significant contribution to student life at Adelphi University, through student organizations, student government, residential life, or community service.

This award is the highest honor at Brown and Gold and is given to a graduating senior who has gone above and beyond during their time at Adelphi, and has made a significant impact through multiple areas of student life, including student organizations, student government, residential life, or community service.

The nominations will be reviewed by the Brown and Gold Review Committee, which consists of members of the Student Government Association, faculty and staff.
