She is passionate about social work and enjoys working at Adelphi's Manhattan Center library. "Adelphi’s Manhattan Center is like a home away from home. We are all like family."

Nine years ago, she left her home in Cameroon for the United States, determined to earn a college degree and pursue a career in medicine. She selected Adelphi over schools she was admitted to and is happy she did. “I like the way our professors teach,” she said.

An Adelphi University graduate and an Adelphi associate professor for 10 years, Dr. Coughlin relishes sharing her expertise and experiences with students in the College of Nursing and Public Health. “You’re a nurse all the time, not just while you’re working. It’s really the difference between a profession and an occupation.”

Global Kids, a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by Carole Artigiani, a former college professor and the wife of Adelphi President Robert A. Scott, has been in partnership with Adelphi for 15 years.
