Design a degree around your passions and goals, and build a future shaped by your unique path through our interdisciplinary studies program.
Many careers these days don’t fit neatly into a single major. Your education doesn’t have to, either.
As a student in our interdisciplinary studies program, you’ll create a personalized academic path that blends courses from multiple majors to match your interests and prepare you for a career that requires expertise across fields.
Whether you want to combine science and art, policy and ethics, or media and technology, the interdisciplinary program empowers you to design a one-of-a-kind degree. With guidance from faculty mentors, you’ll bring together courses from different departments to build the exact knowledge and skills you need for the future you envision.
Students pursue either a BA or BS and combine coursework from three or more disciplines, creating an education that is as unique as their ambitions.

Student Research and Creative Work
Students of our interdisciplinary studies program have pursued projects that combine disciplines in creative and unexpected ways. Our distinguished faculty are active scholars and guide students in exploring how their ideas intersect with other disciplines. Recent student projects have combined philosophy with medical ethics, climate science, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI), demonstrating how interdisciplinary approaches can address complex and global challenges.
As an interdisciplinary student, you can:
- Present your research at Adelphi’s Scholarship and Creative Works Conference
