President’s Advisory Council
The purpose of the Council is to provide feedback, advice, and direction on key strategic initiatives impacting the University.
Members are recommended for their expertise, experience, and engagement as key opinion leaders in their industry or community leadership roles. Interests and knowledge about issues in higher education are also considered. The maximum Council membership is 30 members.
Members serve an initial three-year term and may be appointed at any time during the year. The Council meets a minimum of three times a year and meets either in Manhattan, Garden City or virtually. Meetings are held in the fall and spring academic semesters. The initial three-year term is a calendar term, not dependent on how many meetings members attend.
Council Member Responsibilities
- Offer advice based on professional knowledge and leadership experience
- Attend signature University events
- Support the University in recommending prospective students
- Leverage corporate relationships for possible partnership opportunities
- Provide career service advice and mentoring to current students
- Identify internship opportunities for current students
- Support the University through philanthropy and service
