Doreen Downs Miller
M.B.A. '86

Doreen Downs Miller M.B.A. '86, director of Parenting Matters, and a parent educator specializing in temperament based parent education programs for parents of infants through teens, will be honored as the 2009 Outstanding Alumna. Ms. Miller is formerly affiliated with the California Parenting Institute, Santa Rosa, CA, and the New York University Child Study Center, New York, NY, as well as the New York University Steinhardt School of Education, as an instructor. She is also an active consultant to several Long Island based agencies on projects dedicated to strengthening families and improving the quality of care and education for children. She serves on the Board of the Early Years Institute, and is a Trustee of Wells College. Ms. Miller serves on the Advisory Board of the Adelphi Institute for Parenting, and is also a consultant to and program instructor for the Institute. She is also a member of the President’s Advisory Council. A generous supporter of Adelphi, Ms. Miller has contributed funds to the Alice Brown Early Learning Center and to various other University projects and programs. She earned her M.B.A. at Adelphi University in 1986 and holds an M.A. from New York University in the psychology of parenthood.
