Adelphi University will hold its eighth annual President's Gala, an evening to benefit student scholarships, on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City, NY. The event will honor S. Al Creft, senior vice president of Global Relations for Estee Lauder, as the 2008 Outstanding Long Island Executive; Noreen Harrington '81, managing partner of Alternative Institutional Partners, as the 2008 Outstanding Alumna; and Thomas J. Donohue MBA '65, president and CEO of the United States Chamber of Commerce, with the 2008 Outstanding Service to Adelphi award.

Last year's sold-out black-tie event raised a record $480,000. The Gala supports Adelphi's ability to remain competitive in attracting the brightest and most talented students. Each year, the University awards more than $22 million in the form of scholarships and institutional financial aid to meet the needs of its students.

Gala honorary co-chairs are Adelphi President Robert A. Scott; Adelphi Trustee Carol A. Ammon M.B.A. '79, founder and retired CEO and Chairman, Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc.; Robert B. Catell '99 (Hon.), executive director and deputy chairman, National Grid; Adele Klapper '92, M.A. '99, co-founder of Superior Sewing Machine & Supply, LLC; John J. Phelan, Jr. '70, '87 (Hon.), former chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange; Frank Bivona '77 CEO of Financial Guaranty Insurance Company; and Adelphi Trustee Robert B.
