Our goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming community where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and succeed.

Our DEIA Council is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of genuine belonging for all individuals. We believe that by fostering an inclusive community, we can create a more productive and engaging learning environment.

Commitment to Access for Nontraditional Students

At Adelphi University’s Professional and Continuing Studies (CPCS), we understand that access is a critical aspect for nontraditional students and those who are deciding to return to college. We recognize that access to education is not always equitable and strive to provide opportunities for all individuals to succeed. Our programs and events are designed to engage and educate our community.

Get Involved with the DEIA Council

Starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, the DEIA Council adopted an “open membership” model, meaning that any CPCS student, faculty or staff member can suggest agenda items and attend meetings.

Meetings

Our meetings have an open format and are designed to be interactive and engaging. For example, a given meeting might be devoted to a discussion of a reading or video, or to identifying a problem and exploring solutions, or to a training session led by a guest expert. Calls for agenda items and updates will be sent to the CPCS community in advance.

Meetings will be held virtually via Zoom, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, on the third Friday of each month, September through December and February through May. We invite you to participate in our meetings and become a part of our initiatives.
