The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program is proud to announce the launch of its new Survivorship, Treatment, Education, and Peer Support (STEP) Program, designed to provide licensed social work services, vital resources through educational workshops and forums, provider training, and an inspiring video series.

Funded by a significant five-year grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the STEP Program offers psychosocial support services and referrals to improve quality of life for young women diagnosed with breast cancer, patients with metastatic breast cancer, and their families.

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program is one of the community partnerships developed by Adelphi’s top-ranked School of Social Work.

“We’re proud to launch this video series featuring breast cancer survivors, members of the metastatic breast cancer community, caregivers, and healthcare professionals from various disciplines. Together, they share their experiences, provide education, and hope to breast cancer patients,” said Reyna Machado, MA, MBA, Executive Director of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program.

The first four videos in the STEP Program’s educational series are now available, with an additional six scheduled for release in fall 2025:

  • Anne’s Story – A powerful journey as Anne moves from her initial diagnosis, a recurrence, to living with metastatic breast cancer. She has found strength in support and purpose as a volunteer with the program for over 23 years, and has redefined what it means to live with resilience and hope.

  • Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomy – Dr. Neil Tanna, double board-certified plastic surgeon at Northwell Health, discusses reconstruction options and what patients should know.

  • Kim & Anthony’s Story – A deeply personal journey as Kim and her husband Anthony met in the midst of her treatment, sharing his role as a caregiver, and how they faced breast cancer together and shaped their future.

  • How Reiki Supports Cancer Recovery – Tina Conroy, Reiki Master and integrative wellness expert, shares how Reiki can support healing and recovery.

For more than four decades, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program has been a trusted source of compassion, information, and advocacy, and is now continuing that legacy with the STEP Program to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.
