Emerging Leaders Living Learning Community
The Emerging Leaders community is designed for first-year students who want to explore what it means to be a compassionate and engaged citizen. During the 2024–2025 academic year, the Leadership-Service Community course, taught by Antonia Sora, focused on leadership, service, and civic engagement, with opportunities to participate in guest speaker events and trips across Long Island.

Frequently Asked Questions About the First-Year Living-Learning Communities
Students of all majors are encouraged to apply for membership in the First-Year Living-Learning Communities. Students must be an incoming first-year student to qualify.
Students who are members of the Levermore Global Scholars program, Honors College, Adelphi Plus Program, and transfer students cannot be members of the First-Year LLCs, because they have other special First-Year Seminar courses just for them.
The First-Year Living-Learning Communities are located on the first floor of Eddy Hall. The Living-Learning Community lounge within Eddy Hall is equipped with couches, chairs, and a large television with network capabilities. The lounge is a short walk from the main lobby and kitchen area, where students have access to a stovetop oven, microwave, and counter space for cooking. The lounge is also connected to a laundry room.
The rooms in Eddy Hall are mostly double rooms with air conditioning. For the current cost of these rooms, please view the current housing costs for residence halls. For housing accommodations specific to a documented need, please contact the Student Access Office.
There are no added costs to be a member of the First-Year Living-Learning Communities. We believe all students who wish to develop their personal and professional skills should have access to these programs, and thus, all students are encouraged to apply.
Yes, students accepted into the First-Year Living-Learning Communities may share a room with any student(s) of their same-sex who are also accepted into the same Living-Learning Community. Students may indicate roommate preferences through the application process.
The classroom for the First-Year Living-Learning Communities is located on the first floor of Eddy Hall, just steps from where you will be living. The special First-Year Seminar courses for the First-Year Living-Learning Communities will meet weekly in this designated classroom space.
