Coeducational Housing
Choose your roommates, shape your community, and start your Adelphi experience living your way.
Coeducational Housing—currently available in Chapman Hall, Eddy Hall, and Residence Halls A and B—allows students to select their own roommates ahead of the room selection process. This option helps create an environment that acknowledges, respects, and celebrates the diversity of our student body. Students may choose Coed Housing if they wish to select a roommate outside of the Online Roommate Portal.
Each hall offers a distinct living experience.
- In Chapman Hall and Eddy Hall, students enjoy community-style living with shared restrooms, common social spaces, and events geared toward underclass students.
- In Residence Halls A and B, students have access to semi-private restrooms shared only among those in their suite, along with building amenities and social events.
Students participating in Coed Housing will select their own spaces and form roommate groups through the traditional room selection process.
To participate, you must first complete the Residential Communities Application.

We’ve recently updated the process for applying to Coed Housing. You can now select your space through the regular housing process after completing the following steps:
- Pay your nonrefundable $300 housing deposit
- Register for classes for the upcoming year
- Complete your housing application
While completing your housing application , indicate that you are interested in Coed Housing. Then complete the Residential Communities Application, which is required to live in Coed Housing.
This form will also be sent to any students who qualify for selection, indicate Coed Housing as a preference, but have not yet submitted the Community Agreement form as of the qualifying email deadline.
All steps must be completed in order to create a roommate group and select a Coed Housing space.
As with other specialized housing options, space is limited. If more students apply than there are available rooms, applicants who are not placed will be added to a Coed Housing waitlist.
After completing all required steps—including the housing application and residential communities application—you’ll be designated in the system to select your own space.
Students without a roommate can participate in several opportunities to connect and find potential roommates, including:
- Roommate socials hosted in residence halls
- Posts on Residential Life and Housing social media pages
- The “Find a Roommate” feature in the Housing Portal
Please note that you’ll only see students who have completed all required steps in this process.
The Office of Residential Life and Housing will work with any student who feels uncomfortable in their living situation. Roommate conflicts will be addressed equally, and all students will be supported to ensure a comfortable and respectful housing environment.
