Combining rigorous academic support, hands-on learning and mentorship to strengthen college readiness and expand access to STEM careers.
Adelphi University’s NYS Science and Technology Entry Program is a college-access and STEM enrichment initiative designed to prepare middle and high school students for academic success in science, technology, mathematics, health-related fields, and licensed professions.
Our mission is to increase the number of economically disadvantaged students prepared for college and to support their success in STEM and professional pathways.

A Year of STEM Learning
Students participate in an academic enrichment model that blends classroom support, applied learning and college preparation.
- Saturday Academy for core subject reinforcement
- Regents exam review sessions
- SAT/ACT preparation (Princeton Review resources)
- After-school tutoring and mentoring
- Math and science enrichment workshops
- Robotics programs (VEX, LEGO, and drone challenges)
- AP-level support, including lab and tutorial experiences
- Research opportunities with Adelphi faculty
- College application and essay workshops
- Campus visits and college tours (New York State and HBCUs)
- Career exploration in STEM and health-related fields
- Mentoring in medicine and healthcare careers programming
- Four-week summer enrichment program
- Field trips to STEM institutions on Long Island, NY, such as Brookhaven National Laboratory, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, museums, aquariums and related sites.
- Leadership and professional development activities
- Parent engagement through the Parents in Education initiative
- Student recognition and awards
- Peer mentoring and community-building experiences
Who the Program Serves
The NYS Science and Technology Entry Program supports students who:
- are enrolled in grades 7–12
- are New York State residents (or permanent residents)
- are economically disadvantaged and/or will benefit from academic enrichment
- demonstrate academic readiness (typically GPA of 65 or higher)
Affiliated School Districts
Priority is given to students in partner school districts on Long Island, NY, though students outside these districts may be accepted if space is available. Partner districts include:
- Hempstead UFSD
- West Hempstead UFSD
- Westbury UFSD
- Freeport UFSD
- Malverne UFSD
- Valley Stream UFSD

NYS Science and Technology Entry Program Applications are available through high school guidance counselors or by contacting the program office at Adelphi University at 516.237.8622.
Most Science and Technology Entry Program programming is held on Adelphi University’s Garden City, NY campus, primarily in the Science Building.
Participants in the NYS Science and Technology Entry Program gain stronger academic skills, exposure to STEM careers, college preparation support and opportunities for hands-on learning and mentorship.
