August 2026
Great institutions truly thrive when leaders across every level unite to drive innovation, foster strategic partnerships and create meaningful opportunities for our students. That is why I am so energized by this edition of What’s New & What’s Next, in which we introduce four dynamic alumni entrepreneurs and industry disrupters who have joined the Adelphi University Board of Trustees. Their fresh perspectives and connections will be instrumental in Adelphi’s sustained excellence in upward mobility and graduate outcomes.
Continuing to look at what’s new, our faculty and alumni find exciting new ways to showcase the real-world impact that defines our university. We take tremendous pride in seeing exercise science alumna Heather Mau ’11 use her expertise in performance and conditioning to support the New York Knicks’ NBA championship run as their senior athletic trainer. At the same time, Stephen Shore, EdD, clinical associate professor of education, recently earned an Emmy Award for his vital role advising the PBS Kids series Carl the Collector, exemplifying his advocacy for neurodiversity and inclusion.
Turning to what’s next, we celebrate the enduring legacy of Adelphi and the traditions that bring our community together. We honor the 75th anniversary of The Delphian, our award-winning student newspaper, which has launched generations of distinguished storytellers since its founding in 1951. And looking right around the corner, I invite our entire Adelphi family—students, faculty, staff and alumni—to join us for four days of Panther pride during our 10th anniversary Spirit Weekend.
There is no better time to reconnect with Adelphi, celebrate our achievements and look forward to all that lies ahead. I hope to see you there!
Warm regards,
Michael Balboni ’81, JD
President
