Project manager and electrical technical lead at JB&B
Monika Mohacsi ’15 is a project manager and electrical technical lead at JB&B, where she oversees the design and development of major healthcare and institutional construction projects. A proud alumna of Adelphi’s combined degree program with Columbia University, Monika earned a well-rounded education that paired a strong liberal arts foundation with rigorous engineering training—an experience that set the tone for a thriving career in construction and design.
Monika was drawn to Adelphi for its distinctive engineering pathway, small class sizes and the enriching support of the Honors College. She credits Sean Bentley, PhD, associate professor of physics, as a pivotal influence, whose mentorship extended beyond the classroom and shaped her academic and professional aspirations.
Since graduation, Monika has gained hands-on experience through construction site work and now leads design teams on large-scale projects, particularly in the healthcare sector for clients like NYU and NewYork-Presbyterian. What excites her most is seeing designs come to life—spaces where patients are treated and lives are changed.
Beyond her technical work, Monika serves as co-chair of the mentorship committee for Professional Women in Construction (PWC). Since 2018, she has championed efforts to empower women in engineering and construction, offering guidance and connections to those advancing in the field.
Monika is especially proud of her service on the Adelphi University Board of Trustees, where she contributed insights from her professional field while giving back to the University that helped launch her journey. The experience was a powerful full-circle moment, reinforcing her belief in the value of leadership, community and continued growth.
She credits her success to the support of her family—especially her husband, Ryan, and their daughter, Juliette—and is honored to be named among this year’s 10 Under 10.
Her advice to students: “Become an expert in your field, advocate for your accomplishments and don’t be afraid to make your voice heard.”
