Lead associate dentist at a private practice
Mary Camarano ’17, DMD, is the lead associate dentist at a private practice with locations in Brooklyn and Harlem. She is a proud Adelphi alumna, former NE10 champion track athlete, and dedicated mentor who balances clinical excellence with community service. Mary earned her undergraduate degree as a member of the Honors College, pursuing a blend of science, literature and language studies while competing on Adelphi’s track and field team.
Drawn to Adelphi for its academic rigor and athletic opportunities, Mary credits her success to inspiring faculty mentors who nurtured both her intellectual curiosity and personal growth. Faculty members Anagnostis Agelarakis, PhD, Diane Della Croce, PhD, and Nicole Rudolph, PhD, helped her see how creativity, language and challenge could intersect with her future in medicine. She was honored to receive the Panayotis Agelarakis Scholarship in her senior year and still remembers discussing great works of literature in the Honors College with enthusiasm.
After graduating in 2017, Mary earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, where she served as vice president and then president of the Student Government Association. Following dental school, she completed her residency at Queens Hospital Center and entered private practice. In addition to her clinical work, Mary volunteers through her district’s dental society and mentors pre-dental students and post-grad residents, lecturing on career development and life after dental school.
Mary is especially proud of winning the NE10 conference championship in all three of her hurdle events in 2016—a testament to her discipline and drive. She believes Adelphi’s well-rounded and supportive environment gave her the tools to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
Her advice to current students: “Take advantage of everything Adelphi has to offer. The relationships and experiences you build on campus will shape your future in powerful and lasting ways.”
