Meeting and Gathering on Campus

As we prepare to begin the 2021–2022 academic year, we must continue to monitor and make adjustments as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic evolves, including the recent emergence and threat of the Delta variant.

Our University remains subject to New York state and Nassau County guidance for preventing and reducing the spread of COVID-19, which can change based on public health concerns. We are also adhering to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and utilizing best practices and recommendations developed by the New York state Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) in collaboration with a public health consultant.

The following guidelines will remain in effect at Adelphi until further notice, at least through October 1, at which time our health and wellness leadership will reevaluate the situation.

  • All individuals must wear an acceptable face covering or mask while on campus. The only exceptions to this are:
    • When you are outdoors and socially distanced
    • In your residence hall room
    • When you are actively eating or drinking in approved locations, including outdoors, in lounges and as listed below. (Eating and drinking in classrooms and other learning spaces will not be permitted.)
  • Event plans must be adjusted to reduce capacity and promote additional distancing, especially in indoor venues where some attendees may not be fully vaccinated.
  • Indoor meetings should not exceed 50 people unless social distancing of six feet between individuals can be accomplished.
  • Indoor events in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (Adelphi PAC), the Center for Recreation and Sports (CRS) and the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom in the UC, and other on-campus venues should not exceed 50 percent of the venue’s capacity.
  • While catering, including coffee and tea, will be permitted, appropriate safety protocols will be in place in light of the ongoing pandemic. Please consult with Dining Services about whether your event can have boxed meals, buffet food with servers, or pre-plated meals. Hand sanitizers will be made available and masks will continue to be required unless guests are seated and eating.
  • Proof of vaccination, and/or a negative test for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior, will be required for attendance at all performance and athletic events expected to draw more than 50 people.
  • Universal masking will be required at outdoor events where distancing is not possible.

If you have questions or concerns about dining on campus, please reach out to Dining Services at adelphidining@adelphi.edu or 516.877.3950.

Sincerely,

Gene Palma
Vice President of University Wellness, Safety and Administration
