Writing for College, Careers, and Creativity
Sharpen your writing for multiple futures
This credit-bearing program is scheduled to take place from July 12-August 1, 2026 on Adelphi’s Garden City Campus on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10am-1pm.
This workshop blends creative expression with practical skills. Students craft original stories, strengthen their communication for fields like law, journalism, and marketing, and complete a polished college essay draft that they can submit during the admissions process. Students who study English and Creative Writing can go on to enjoy successful careers as teachers, lawyers, publishers, editors, librarians, writers, ad executives, administrators, social media managers, academics, journalists, web producers and more. In this course, you’ll read published authors and pay attention to their craft, write your own work, and get feedback from your peers.
In this course you will:
- Strengthen your writing across academic and professional contexts
- Begin (or polish!) a draft of your college application essay
- Learn the writing process via drafting, close reading, and constructive critique
- Improve your creative work through draft and revision
