High school students can get a firsthand look at multiple healthcare careers to help decide which path sparks excitement.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the many paths within healthcare. Through interactive workshops and nationally recognized certifications, you’ll gain practical skills and clarity about your next steps.
Throughout this one week program, rising 9th–12th graders explore fields such as nursing, pre-med, psychology, exercise science, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and social work—learning directly from Adelphi faculty and practicing professionals.

Get CPR certified along with NARCAN and “Stop the Bleed” life-saving training.

Meet Your Professors
 
							Dr. Nathan George is an Associate Teaching Professor of Psychology at Adelphi University. His research focuses on cognitive development—how people think, learn, and make sense of the world. He studies language learning in both children and adults, and is also interested in how everyday hobbies like board games might have benefits for learning and problem-solving. Dr. George is passionate about helping students see how psychology connects to everyday life and enjoys creating interactive, hands-on learning experiences that make psychology fun and meaningful.
 
							Dr. Mario Tomei brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare to his role as an educator. A practicing physician, Dr. Tomei has been part of higher education since 2014, teaching across multidisciplinary areas of medicine to nursing, physician assistant, and medical students. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Health Sciences, combining his clinical background with expertise in leadership and healthcare management. Dr. Tomei is passionate about fostering critical thinking and clinical excellence in future healthcare professionals through an integrative and student-centered approach to medical education.
Dr. Meghan Wendelken received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. The majority of her clinical experience as an SLP involved working with autistic children who were nonspeaking and required AAC. She completed her PhD at Penn State University in August 2022, and she is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Adelphi University. Her research focuses on intervention for autistic children learning to use AAC, specifically language processing across different input modalities and communication partner training.
