The Adelphi University Alumni Awards are the highest honors presented by the Adelphi University Alumni Advisory Council. Selected through a highly competitive process, each recipient has made a lasting impact on society and on AU through outstanding professional, philanthropic, or volunteer accomplishments.

Alumnus of the Year

The Alumnus of the Year Award is the highest honor bestowed upon alumni of Adelphi University by the Adelphi University Alumni Advisory Council. Nominee must have proven himself or herself outstanding in service to the University, and to his or her community, and evidenced in career field achievements.

Recognizes a graduate of Adelphi University who has demonstrated diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) leadership through a strong commitment and outstanding contributions to the advancement of DEI within their company, community or at Adelphi.

Legacy Family Competition

Legacy families consist of students and alumni whose family members – including parents, grandparents, and/or siblings – attended or currently attend Adelphi University. A legacy family has one or more generations of Adelphi University graduates.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Presented to an alumnus for remarkable achievements in professional life or for distinguished accomplishments through service to his or her community, state or country, over the course of a decade or more.

Panther Family Award

Honors an Adelphi family (3 or more people) that have shown outstanding dedication and service to the university including, but not limited to, alumni activity, donor activity and Adelphi volunteerism.

Philanthropist of the Year

Recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional generosity in the promotion and support of Adelphi University. The recipients of this award, through their philanthropy and service, have helped shape the University’s future and improve the quality of life for the student body, faculty, and staff.

Presented to member(s) of the Adelphi University’s 50th Reunion Class (Class of 1974), who have rendered outstanding volunteer service to Adelphi University.

10 Under 10 Young Alumni Recognition Program

Presented to 10 undergraduate alumni, within 10 years of graduation, who have achieved professional success, serve as difference-makers in their communities, and loyally supported Adelphi as partners, advocates and inventors.

Criteria:

  • Received undergraduate degree between 2014 and 2024
  • Achieved professional success, serve as difference makers in their communities, and loyally support Adelphi as partners, advocates and investors
  • Not previously a 10 Under 10 honoree
