Steps to certify as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

• Complete a nutrition and dietetics program accredited by ACEND. By 2024, all RD’s must have a master’s degree or higher in order to sit for the CDR exam.
• Complete 1000 hours of Supervised Experiential Learning (through fieldwork and alternate experiences provided through coursework).
• Pass the national Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Exam.
• If the state you live in requires licensure, you will need to apply for a license in the state you wish to practice in.
• State licensure information 
• If you live in New York, you can apply for the Certified Dietitian- Nutritionist (CDN) after passing the RD exam.
