Presidential Transition Team
In June 2026, Acting Board Chair William Fuessler ’79 convened a Presidential Transition Team to support President Michael A.L. Balboni ’81, JD, as he steps into his new leadership role.
The team immediately began work and is currently advising on introductory sessions to be held over the summer and fall. We will continue our supportive, advisory role throughout the President’s first semester and will officially dissolve at the conclusion of the Fall 2026 term.
Team Goals
The primary charge of the Presidential Transition Team is to intentionally and systematically immerse President Balboni in Adelphi’s unique culture, its shared governance and decision-making structures, and daily operational rhythms. While a separate group is overseeing the president’s introductions to external partners, alumni and donors, our team is focused entirely on the internal University community.
Key Deliverables
To ensure the president is fully equipped with the knowledge and context necessary to lead Adelphi, the team is focusing on four key deliverables:
Planning a series of introductory meetings with critical campus constituencies, including Faculty Senate leadership, union representatives, student leaders, staff leadership and academic leadership. The goal is to ensure the president meets with a representative group from every area of campus.
Candid, “need-to-know” briefings on Adelphi’s culture, shared governance expectations and historical context to help him successfully navigate Adelphi’s institutional landscape.
Identifying one or two high-visibility, low-cost operational or administrative pain points that the President can resolve within his first 90 days to establish immediate momentum and goodwill with the campus community.
Counsel on internal messaging to ensure that President Balboni’s vision and priorities are effectively and transparently communicated to the campus.
