Changes implemented during January intersession

Welcome to the start of a new semester at Adelphi University. The Office of Information Technology is continually working with other campus departments to enhance technology services for the Adelphi community. As we work on more projects for the spring semester, we wanted to keep you up to date on changes that were implemented during the January intersession.

Wireless Network Change
The old “AU2” wireless network was phased out during Intersession and we’re sure you’ll find the new connection process much easier! Modify your settings by choosing the new “AU” wireless network when on campus, and entering the shorter network key of gopanthers.

Automatic Shutdown of Projectors/Displays
In support of Adelphi’s Go Green initiatives, the IT department installed occupancy sensors in 18 multimedia rooms to enable the automatic shutdown of the projectors and/or TV displays after 20 minutes of no activity. These new sensors allow the campus to save electricity while prolonging the life of the hardware, minimizing lamp hours on the bulbs, and ensuring higher availability of classroom technology.

Expansion of Equipment Loan Program

The IT Help Desk has transitioned to maintaining loans of equipment that had previously been administered by the Faculty Center for Professional Excellence (FCPE). Equipment available for loan includes: laptops, projectors, wireless presenter devices, external desktop speakers, video cameras, digital cameras, 3M board remotes, tripods, clicker packages,  webcams,  edirol recorders, wireless keyboards, headphones, MAC DVI/VGA adapters, and video cables.
