New Dean Anthony Libertella reintroduces himself to students, faculty and staff of the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business as he starts his second term of leadership for the School.

Anthony F. Libertella, Adelphi University School of Business Dean

The turn of the millennium brought a wonderful change for me and it came in the form of Adelphi University.

I came to Adelphi in 2000 to serve as the dean of what is now called the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. After my term as dean ended in 2008, I spent the following five years as a faculty member in the Department of Management, Marketing and Decision Sciences. The Willumstad School of Business has made a number of advances in the past 13 years and new initiatives will be forthcoming.

The programs have become more engaging and the faculty continues to incorporate their wealth of academic and professional experience into the classroom. Internships have increased while facilities have been enhanced and the School’s outreach continues to expand. At the start of my second term as dean of the School, I am excited about our future. Currently, the faculty has continued to excel in their scholarship and pedagogy. Concomitantly, the students have been provided with the necessary skills for their success in their chosen specializations. These advances are best illustrated by the stories of our faculty, students and alumni, which will be the focus of this newsletter.

Our faculty members are consistent contributors to advancement in their respective fields. Read about Gita Surie, Ph.D., who was recently named a Fulbright Fellow. She will use the funding for her travels to India to conduct further field research on commercializing renewable energy technologies.

Take a look at Scott Dimig ’06 and Lauren Flynn ’11 in this edition’s feature story. Leading by example, these graduates have taken different paths with their degrees and made significant impacts in their industries. How did they get there? What have they done and what are they doing to advance their careers? They provide the answers.

Additionally in our alumni and student profiles you will learn how the Willumstad School of Business is a driving force in their futures.

And the best is yet to come. I look forward to your feedback, continued support and involvement in accomplishing the vision we all set for the Willumstad School of Business.
