The College of Arts and Sciences dean, an experienced film producer, has some topical picks.
When asked to recommend summer reads and watches, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Sam L Grogg, Ph.D., offered Temple Grandin’s Thinking in Pictures: My Life with Autism.
Dr. Grogg noted that Mr. Grandin “will be speaking on campus in the fall and that HBO aired a remarkable documentary on how [Ms. Grandin], autistic as a child, embraced the visual language as her primary means of thinking and communicating in order to overcome her disability.”
What will Dr. Grogg be watching this summer? The Newsroom. Aaron Sorkin’s television series on HBO starring Jeff Daniels enters its second season this summer. Dr. Grogg called it “a terrific look behind the scenes of television journalism and the dodgy business of reporting the truth and the pressure to get high ratings.”
