The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is pleased to invite you to the first meeting of the Allies Conversation Series on Wednesday, July 29, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m.

As we continue our discussions about race with our campus community, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Maggie Lally ’82 and I will be leading the community in a discussion about the book White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo, PhD.

The Allies Conversation Series is open to everyone in the University community (students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and parents), and is particularly intended to assist white participants to understand and address racism in order to become stronger allies with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) members of our community.

The book is available on Amazon.com (Kindle version) for $9.99, or you can purchase a print version from Barnes & Noble for $13.99. While we hope that everyone will have an opportunity to read the book, we will be giving an overview of the concepts in the book in case some are unable to read it prior to the discussion.

Please register online and we look forward to seeing you there.

Best regards,

Jacqueline Jones LaMon, JD
Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
