Join the Adelphi Team to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Support on Long Island
On June 10, people concerned about breast cancer will walk 13.1 miles, the equivalent of a half marathon, as participants in the LI2DAY Walk. Supporters of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, one of the recipients of the monies raised, will be walking together as a team in this fund raising effort. The walk will start and end at Smith Point Beach in Shirley.
Here is what Carole Taraci, a walker on the Adelphi team, says: “I have been a member of the Adelphi LI 2day Walk group for a number of years. It is important to me as a 19-year breast cancer survivor to continue to be a part of this. This program offers much needed support– emotionally, physically and financially– for those suffering with this disease. What is raised here stays here to continue this support. Anything we can do to make the experience a little easier is worth the effort. We all know someone in our families, friends, coworkers, etc. who have been or are currently breast cancer patients.”
The Annual LI2DAY Walk will be on Sat., June 10th, 2017. The Adelphi Program received $23,550 from the LI2DAY organization in 2016 and a cumulative total of $388,250 for all previous years.
