Technology changes that were implemented during the January intersession.

Welcome to the start of a new semester! The Office of Information Technology would like to bring to your attention some technology enhancements that were implemented during the January intersession.

Upgrades and Changes

eCampus

The 1098-T tax form for students and any staff taking courses is now available under the eCampus Services tab.

Color Printing

When printing, please keep in mind that the PCounter ratio for color versus black and white prints is 15 to 1. To assist with our green initiatives and your allotted print balance, we encourage you to print in black and white whenever possible.

Mobile Printing – Phase 2

We’ve added a new way to use the mobile printing service that was introduced in fall. In addition to  submitting print jobs to select campus printers via email or eCampus, you can now print documents from your iPhone or iPad using Apple’s built-in print function. Mobile printing is integrated with PCounter so print charges are deducted from your PCounter print balance account. You can also view your PCounter balance on the Mobile Printing main page within eCampus Services.

Residence Hall Network Registration

The NetReg system in the residence halls was upgraded to allow for the registration of wireless devices that do not have browser capabilities, e.g., Apple TV, Rokus, SmartTV.

AU2Go

In partnership with the Department of Public Safety and Transportation, the Shuttle Tracker on the AU2Go app has been expanded to include shuttles to and from the Garden City Pool as well as the 11th Street Parking Program lot.

In the next few weeks you will be able to to subscribe to push notifications for two AU2Go channels: “Registrar Updates” and “Athletics News.”

Email Upgrade

The faculty and staff Gmail system was upgraded on January 20 to include changes to the spam filtering process.

Mobile Responsive Website

The majority of the Adelphi website was relaunched last week in a format that automatically adapts to the dimensions of your mobile devices for for easier navigation.

iPad Kiosks

Two additional iPad kiosks were added to the UC Underground Cafe for a total of five available kiosks. You can use these kiosks for on-the go tasks.

Multimedia Upgrades and New Spaces

As part of our ongoing effort to continue our green initiatives and improve the viewing image in Adelphi’s multimedia rooms, we have installed new lampless projectors in 25 rooms throughout the Garden City campus, and the Hauppauge and the Manhattan Centers. Occupancy sensors and new projectors were installed in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) rooms 215 and 216, and we installed multimedia equipment, smart projector, in the music keyboard lab, located in the lower lever of the PAC.

Redesigned Student Financial Services Website

Launching in February, the new website makes the financial aid process clearer and easier to navigate. Additional department websites will be launched throughout the spring, including the Office of the Registrar, Campus Recreation, Parents Association and more.

Wifi Upgrades

We upgraded the wireless network in the Performing Arts Center to 802.11n capability. This will enhance coverage, and allow for more concurrently connected devices and faster speeds.
