Interested in teaching middle/high school science? The Adelphi/Robert Noyce Science Scholarship Program/Science Education Advancement (SEA) master’s degree program is in its final year. This scholarship provides a $15,500 tuition stipend toward the 37-credit program. Course work begins this summer and extends during Fall 2017, Spring 2018 and one final course offered in Summer I 2018. Upon successful completion, candidates will graduate with an M.A. in Science Education
and earn New York State certification in teaching grades 7-12 in their discipline. In return for this scholarship, candidates agree to teach in a high-needs school district for two years–anywhere in the United States.
To qualify for the SEA program, you must:
- Have an interest in teaching secondary science.
- Have 25 to 30 credits, with a grade of B or better, in a science discipline (biology, chemistry, earth science or physics).
Long Island’s natural environment provides candidates with hands-on experience in teaching the sciences.
The SEA program provides training that will give you an edge on the competition.
- A partial scholarship ($15,500) leading to a Master of Arts in Science Education
- Mentoring and professional development support throughout the program
- Course work and teaching experience leading to New York State certification (grades 7-12) in biology, chemistry, earth science or physics

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program seeks to encourage talented science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. The Noyce scholarship track provides funds to institutions of higher education to support scholarships, stipends and academic programs for undergraduate STEM majors and postbaccalaureate students holding STEM degrees who earn a teaching credential and commit to teaching in high-needs K-12 school districts. Each track supports Capacity Building Projects to develop the capacity for institutions to provide innovative teacher preparation programs to enable increasing numbers of STEM majors and STEM professionals to become effective K-12 mathematics and science teachers. It also aims to develop the capacity to prepare master science and mathematics teachers.
