On March 14, 2016, Newsday featured a story on certificate programs and their benefits for adults looking to boost their skills as the job market becomes more competitive. Shawn O’Riley, Ed.D., dean of University College, Adelphi’s College for Working Adults, which offers its own range of certificate programs, commented, “The vast majority of certificate students go back to school either for a career change or advancement.”
Olga Castro earned her Translation Studies Certificate at Adelphi five years ago. She told Newsday that she uses her new skills to work pro bono and says the certificate has made her a better bilingual teacher.
