Adelphi students perform “the funniest farce ever written” at AUPAC.
Written by Michael Frayn, Noises Off, has been called “the funniest farce ever written” by the New York Post. It’s frantic story of a second-rate company of touring actors doing a barely rehearsed production of a typical British sex farce called Nothing On—all underwear, missing plates of sardines and a dozen doors. As this motley group struggles to produce a farce-within-a-farce that can barely hold itself together, the personal relationships of the actors begin to fray and finally explode, as both farces—the one you’re watching and the one they’re doing— collapse into a tangle of chaos that has to be seen to be comprehended.
This production is directed by Adelphi’s Brian Rose and performed by Adelphi students. You can catch Noises Off on Tuesday, November 5 through Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Adelphi’s Olmstead Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the Lucia and Steven N. Fischer Box Office.
