Certificates from the Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers
What:
Education & Assistance Corp. (EAC) will hold a Peer Mediation Award Ceremony and present certificates of completion awards to a group of Adelphi students who have completed EAC’s 16 hour Peer Mediation Training Program, offered by The Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers. EAC’s Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers’ peer mediation program is a conflict resolution program which uses student mediators to help resolve disputes among students. This program allows students in conflict to resolve their issues in the safety of the school in a non-violent way. Special guest Douglas Pascarella, assistant to the director of special projects for Nassau County, will help to present the awards to the students.
The talented Adelphi students work for Adelphi University’s Department of Residential Life and Housing as part of the EXCEL Program (Entering Students Excelling through the Contribution of Experienced Leaders). The EXCEL Program connects first year students with mentors who are experienced campus leaders. Mentors live on the same floor as the first year students and are available to assist first year students with their transition into college.
