The news of the Indian school children who were poisoned by their school lunches yesterday is heart-wrenching. It’s no wonder that the horror has sparked protests and the principal is on the run. Today, The New York Times
addressed the corruption that plagues India’s well-intended school lunch program, as well as the inability of the state medical system to handle the crisis. At least 23 children from India’s eastern state of Bihar are now dead and many more are hospitalized.
