Internships, job shadowing programs and other networking opportunities don't just prepare students for careers—they help many students get job offers even before they graduate. Meet five members of Adelphi's Class of 2025 who knew their next step when they walked across the stage on Commencement Day.

Adelphi University has announced a $100,000 grant from the M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank. The grant will be used to assist formerly incarcerated women find well-paying careers in healthcare.

More than 350 students, alumni, professionals, industry leaders and community members were encouraged to “empower, lead and inspire” at Adelphi University’s eighth annual Women's Leadership Conference on Saturday, March 29.

As an undergraduate and graduate student in computer science, Dylan Jaipersaud ’23, MS ’24, landed a campus job helping develop the interactive Panther Express Shuttle schedule, allowing riders to get real-time information online.

From individual accomplishments to exciting events, here are our top stories from each month.

With a new emphasis on student outcomes in its 2025 list of America's Best Colleges, The Wall Street Journal now ranks Adelphi as the top university on Long Island. Numerous initiatives promoting career readiness have propelled Adelphi's rise.

Many dance majors go on to perform, but others have used their Bachelor of Fine Arts to create their own companies or schools or go into health professions such as  physical therapy. 

Students in theater, political science, computer science and biochemistry expanded their horizons by working in a Broadway theater or a public relations defense firm, competing in a NASA competition, or collaborating on research at a university in Poland.

Faculty members from the theater and English departments will each lead a trip to the United Kingdom: one for English literature in York and the other for theater in London. 

Internships are a foundation of an Adelphi education and one of the best ways students can prepare for careers. From shadowing surgical technicians at an eye bank to researching nanotechnology in Poland, our students spent the summer of 2024 having extraordinary internship experiences.

At Adelphi, research is highly valued for undergrads as well as graduate students. This summer, six undergraduates are making new discoveries—inside and out of the lab.

Miguel Velasquez ’23, MA ’24, a bilingual history major who was Adelphi’s 2021 Newman Civic Fellowship winner, has already secured a teaching position—in the same school where he held his Adelphi internship.

The Career Closet is a new initiative at Adelphi created for our community to assist students in starting their professional wardrobe.

Undergrad Nino Burjanadze, a Levermore Global Scholar, has been selected for a semester-long internship with The Washington Center Academic Internship Program in Washington, D.C. She will advocate for better resources for schools located in areas with funding challenges, like Native American reservations and low-income housing communities.
