This scholarship is designed to help students strengthen academic skills, build confidence and develop a strong college-going identity.

The Grace Pilcer Pre-College Scholars Program, established in 2026, expands access to Adelphi University’s credit-bearing Summer Pre-College courses by offering need-based scholarships—up to full tuition. Priority is given to rising high school seniors who face financial, educational or socioeconomic barriers, as well as students who would be the first in their families to attend college.

Through this initiative, Adelphi University continues its mission to promote access, opportunity and social mobility for motivated young scholars.

How to Apply to the Program

Applicants must first apply and be accepted into a 2026 Summer Pre-College credit-bearing course before submitting a Pilcer Scholarship application.

About Dr. Grace Pilcer

Dr. Grace C. Pilcer ’84 is a retired clinical psychologist who maintained a private practice for many years and served as a consulting psychologist to several independent schools in New York City. She earned her doctoral degree from Adelphi University’s Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology and has remained deeply engaged with the University for decades through service on the Board of Trustees, the President’s Advisory Group, the Derner Advisory Council, and most recently The Momentum Campaign Steering Committee.

A passionate advocate for educational access and social mobility, Dr. Pilcer has long been committed to helping young people overcome barriers to higher education, particularly students who may lack the financial resources, guidance, or early exposure needed to pursue college. Through the Dr. Grace C. Pilcer ’84 Pre-College Access and Readiness Fund, she is helping Adelphi expand opportunities for first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved students—ensuring they have the support, confidence, and preparation needed to succeed in higher education and beyond.
