If you choose an on-campus Pre-College Program experience, learn about college life by immersing yourself on Adelphi’s beautiful Garden City campus.

College 101 Workshops

Get ready for college with expert-led workshops designed just for you. Hosted by experts from Adelphi’s Office of University Admissions, One-Stop Student Services Center, and Center for Career and Professional Development, these sessions will give you a clear, confident start to your college journey.

You’ll learn how to find the college that’s the right fit for you, navigate financial aid and scholarships, and prepare strong application materials—including your résumé or CV. We’ll also talk about the skills that lead to success in college and beyond.

As part of Adelphi’s Pre-College Program, you’ll also take part in two writing workshops led by a faculty member who specializes in college application essays. Leave the program with a polished draft ready to submit!

Each workshop includes a brief presentation followed by a Q&A session. Have a question that’s more personal? You’re welcome to stay afterward to chat with the presenter or exchange contact information for one-on-one guidance.

Living on Campus

Experience campus life firsthand at Adelphi. You’ll stay in Residence Hall A—a modern, hotel-style residence located next to Swirbul Library and close to the softball and baseball fields. Rooms accommodate three students and feature private bathrooms, individual climate control, and air conditioning. You’ll also enjoy shared lounges and free laundry facilities on every floor.

Around the clock, our dedicated Resident Assistants and professional staff are here to support you. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, with Public Safety officers and a 24-hour on-call nurse or EMT always available.

To help you settle in comfortably, review our suggested packing list before you arrive.

Dining on Campus

Enjoy a variety of delicious dining options during your stay. You’ll have access to a full-service dining hall with a range of hot and cold entrées, a deli, grill, salad bar, pizza station, and plenty of grab-and-go choices. Your Pre-College Program ID card makes it easy to enjoy meals and snacks across campus—whether you’re sitting down for dinner with friends or grabbing a quick coffee between classes.

And yes, there’s a Starbucks right in the University Center lobby—perfect for your morning latte or afternoon pick-me-up.

If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, Adelphi’s dining team can help accommodate your needs. Learn more about the university’s dining services and available dietary support.

Pre-College Social Activities

Getting involved on campus is one of the best parts of the college experience—and the Pre-College Program is no exception.

Be sure to join in on our signature events, like the Adelphi Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt and the Panther Dance Party (our own “Pre-College Prom”).

In addition to nightly social activities, you’ll have access to the indoor track, gymnasium courts, and pool in the Center for Recreation and Sports. Please note that hours for the track, courts, and pool vary daily.

For students with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD, the Learning Resource Program (LRP) team provides academic coaching, executive functioning support, and study strategies. My son is much more confident about college—less anxious about dorm life and independence. I’m so grateful you offer the Bridges to Adelphi program and was impressed by its organization and intensity.
