The Health Services Center is dedicated to serving your health needs on a daily basis while encouraging you to integrate a healthy lifestyle into your personal, academic and career goals. Outside of promoting health awareness to our student body, we also maintain a top-tier emergency response team who responds to any accidents or injuries involving any person on campus.

The Health Services Center offers the following services:

• Nurse practitioners trained in primary and urgent care
• Visits with Registered Nurses for health education, promotion and prevention consultation
• Routine gynecological care
• Medical care on-campus
• Clearances for student-athletes
• Diet consultation with a registered dietician, by appointment only
• Emergency response to accidents or injuries on the Adelphi campus
• Referrals to other healthcare professionals or community organizations for non-emergency concerns, as appropriate
• Peer educators who provide wellness programs of interest and need to the campus population

We always strive to better meet your personal health needs, and by teaming up with other campus organizations, the Center offers workshops and seminars on health and wellness to help you maintain physical and mental health. Topics include:

• Risk reduction strategies
• Stress management techniques
• Nutritional counseling
• Weight loss programs
• Smoking cessation programs

No, it is free of charge.

If you come to the Health Services Center for a lab test, it can be sent through your insurance provider to our outside laboratory. Just bring your currently active insurance card. Vaccines are covered in full under the Adelphi University insurance policy.

Franwin Pharmacy Mineola Surgical as well as Lafayette Pharmacy provide delivery of your prescriptions to the Adelphi campus at no charge. Prescriptions are delivered Monday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. during the regular academic year and by 4:00 pm during session breaks.

All prescriptions are delivered directly to Adelphi’s Health Services Center and must be picked up within 72 hours by the student, who must show photo ID. The pharmacy will process all medication orders through the student’s health insurance.

The student will then sign for any additional co-pay charges to be billed to their student account.

The billing process may take two to three weeks to show up on the student’s account. The amount billed is expected to be paid in full at that time at the Office of the Cashier in the lower level of Levermore Hall.

If the family’s insurance is restricted to a particular pharmacy, please be sure the student is aware of this and that they share this information with us prior to any prescriptions being delivered.

Outside physicians and medical providers can electronically send prescriptions to our pharmacy and indicate on the prescription to “Deliver to Adelphi.”

Franwin pharmacy phone number is 516.746.4720 and Lafayette pharmacy phone is 516.746.0646. A credit or debit card can be set up with the pharmacy directly for any prescriptions to avoid the student having to sign for co-pays when picking up prescriptions at our office.

Students over 18 must give permission for Health Services to share medical information, unless it’s a life-threatening emergency.

For other emergencies, Public Safety or Residential Life will help families reach out to their student.

It is the policy of Health Services that we do not provide excuse notes for absences from class. If you miss class due to illness, you must contact your professor according to your class policies.

If you are seriously injured or ill and require emergency care or admission to the hospital, the Health Services Center will contact the Office of Student Academic Services and Retention for you. Medical leave may be initiated by the student if they believe that physical and/or psychological health issues are significantly interfering with their ability to succeed. Students must contact the Office of Academic Services and Retention at 516.877.3150 to discuss this issue.

New York State mandates immunizations for:

• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
• Meningococcal ACWY (for students under 22)

Yes, a student health insurance plan is available to ensure students have consistent access to healthcare during their studies. Health insurance coverage is mandatory for all residential and international students to ensure well-being while attending Adelphi.
