An introduction to the general approach to curriculum design and instructional methods.
Learning Goals
Scholarship: Students will demonstrate appropriate effective instruction, assessment, and techniques, in accordance with practicesrecommended by the National Association for Sport & Physical Education (NASPE) and New York State Standards.Moreover, students will be introduced to the most significant aspects of classroom organization, teaching and assessment,including alternative assessment, the construction of lesson plans and a review of unit plans, and various methodologicalstrategies.Reflective Practice: Students will demonstrate professional and personal development through reflective assignments that relate toprofessional development and teaching analyses.Wellness: Student are expected to develop assessments, lesson plans and a block plan that will incorporate effective teachingpractices and objectives, designed to teach the importance and value of fitness and activities that achieve specific learningdomains; psychomotor, cognitive, and affective through physical activity.
