Mission Adelphi
Adelphi’s student spaceflight experiments program gives students the opportunity to design experiments, conduct research and send their work to space.
This year, Adelphi University will take part in a research opportunity most students never get access to: We’re sending a student-designed experiment to the International Space Station (ISS).
From Adelphi to Orbit
Mission Adelphi is our University’s team for the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), a national initiative that puts real spaceflight research in the hands of students. An actual experiment, designed by Adelphi students, will be integrated into spaceflight hardware, launched to orbit, operated by astronauts aboard the ISS, and returned to our campus for analysis after four to six weeks.
Our flight slot with SSEP Mission 22 to ISS is expected to be in late Spring 2027. The experiment will run inside Rhodium Scientific’s flight-certified hardware, a microgravity research mini-laboratory named the Rhodium Fluid Experiment Tube™, purpose-built for straightforward operation in orbit. Upon its return, Mission Adelphi students will analyze the results, as a professional research team would.
Follow along with us through this academic year as we prepare to send a student experiment to space!
